Benjamin Thomas, AKA “Benny Ninja,” is the Westchester, New York-based father of the House of Ninja, a post given to him by the late Willi Ninja of Paris Is Burning & How Do I Look. Benny Ninja is self taught & self trained in the underground art form know as Vogue, which he has been mastering since 1990 & teaching for the past 10 yrs. Taking forms of Martial arts, Gymnastics, House dancing, Yoga and joining them together with the music in order to convert the music into the 3rd dimension! Yes the 3rd dimension. Benny has the ability to bring sound to life, as though he is creating it with body movements forming a story. Benny Has taught Vogue and Runway workshops in Paris, Italy, LA, London, Amsterdam, & Sweden to introduce and educate the masses of this under ground dance art form.
He has worked with artists like David Michlek’s piece “Slow Dancing” at the Lincoln Center in New York City, Choreographer Karol Armitage at the Biennial in Venice Italy. He has performed and participated on Fashion runways in Paris France & London England and dance expos around the world. Benny has been wowing crowds/Fans alike with his ability to Stretch, Walk, & Pose to the beat like No other. He has appeared on America's Next Top Model sinceCycle 8 as the posing coach/instructor for the super model hopefuls, to Bravos “Tim Gunn’s Guide to Style”.
Benny has Choreographed/performed in “Dancing in the streets” sponsored by Mayor Bloomberg for the youth of Brooklyn, Deborah Gregory’s book release party “Catwalk”, & the Taipei Arts Festival, to Sony’s Play station game release “Sing Star” and even Choreographed Singer/Songwriter Janid for her Album Release “Twisted”.
